Winning Life is a browser game where you practice short conversations with fictional characters and get AI feedback. This policy explains, in plain English, what we collect, why, and who helps us run the game.
The short version
- You can play without an account. We give your browser a random anonymous player ID.
- We store your game progress and the lines you type or say, so the game can score them and give feedback.
- Your lines are sent to an AI service (xAI) to create the character's reply, your score and feedback.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Winning Life shows no ads today.
- Winning Life is for players 13 and older. Cash prizes are for players 18+ only.
- Please don't type or say sensitive personal information (for example your full name, address, phone number, health, financial or other private details). The game doesn't need it.
What we collect
- Anonymous player ID. A random code stored in your browser and on our servers. It is not your name, email or phone number.
- Game progress. Your stage, practice count, official attempts used, numbers won, best scores, your chosen role (Him/Her), and whether you confirmed you are 13+.
- What you write or say in the game. The lines you type, or the text your browser transcribes when you use the microphone, are sent to our server and to xAI to be scored. We keep your single best line (up to 140 characters), its score and scene on your player record, to show it back to you (for example in the short "value reel" after your first attempts). We don't keep a history of your other lines.
- Voice. We never receive or store audio. Speech-to-text is done by your browser, and your browser may send your audio to its maker's speech service (for example Google for Chrome, or Apple for Safari) under that company's privacy terms. If you prefer, type instead.
- Names you type. If you introduce yourself in a line ("I'm Chris"), we may save that first name so the coach and characters can use it. You can remove it at any time with Settings → Forget my name.
- Share links and cards. When you choose to share a result, the link and card contain your score, scene, role and whether it was practice or official. They never include your name or your lines.
- Basic technical data. Our hosting provider automatically processes standard request data such as IP address, browser type and request logs to deliver and secure the service.
- Feedback and suggestions. If you send feedback, we store your message (up to 500 characters), your anonymous player ID and role, to improve the game. Please don't include personal details.
- Ratings and reviews. If you rate the game, we store your stars, your optional review (up to 300 characters), and, only if you tick "OK to show my review publicly", your first name or initials. We publish reviews only when you tick 'OK to show my review publicly', with your first name or initials only, never your email or lines. Ask us to remove yours at any time.
- Business version sign-up. If you join the Business version waitlist, we store your email, and optionally your company, team size and use case. We use your email only to contact you about the Business version. We don't sell it or use it for anything else, and we delete it on request (email jarl@inventagon.com).
- Payments. Purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we keep a record of what you bought.
- Sign in with X. If you sign in, we receive basic profile information that X shares with your permission (your X user ID, username and display name).
- Planned features: leaderboards (see "Public features" below) and a Heaven highlight reel: a private review of your own top moments across stages, which may include your best lines and scores. It is shown only to you unless you choose to share it. We will update this policy before either goes live.
Cookies and local storage
We use a few small items in your browser to make the game work. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
| Item | Where | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
wl_id | Cookie and local storage | Your anonymous player ID, so your progress follows you between visits |
wl_p / wl_pstate | Cookie / local storage | A signed backup of your progress (used only if our database is unavailable) |
wl_reel | Local storage | Remembers that you've seen the value reel, so it only plays once |
wl_beats | Local storage | Remembers which story messages you've already seen |
wl_adult | Local storage | Remembers that you confirmed you're 13+ |
wl_side | Local storage | Remembers whether you play as Him or Her |
Usage analytics: we count, on our own servers, anonymous game events such as page views, rounds played, voice vs typed lines and which ad link brought you (UTM tags), tied to a random ID in your browser and kept for up to 90 days. No third-party trackers or ad pixels.
Voice delivery: when you speak, your browser measures pace, pauses, volume and pitch steadiness on your device and sends us only those numbers. Your audio never leaves your device, except to your browser's own speech-to-text service.
How to clear or decline them: use Settings → Delete my data (which deletes your server record and clears these items), or clear site data for Winning Life in your browser settings. You can also block cookies and storage for this site in your browser, but the game needs them to save progress, so it may not work properly.
Public features
- Today: nothing you write or say is public, except reviews you opted to show publicly. Your lines are only public if you choose to share them yourself. Share cards never include your name or your lines.
- Leaderboards (when added): will show only your score, stage, and a display name or X username. They will never show your typed or spoken lines.
Prizes and claims
If you win a prize and claim it, we store your chosen payout method (PayPal, Venmo, Apple Cash or gift card), the handle/email/phone you give for it, your name, your 18+/US confirmations, the time, and a one-way hash of your IP address (for fraud checks). For leaderboards and prizes we also keep anonymous player and device ids, scores, and which boards people played. Claim data is used only to verify eligibility and pay you, is seen only by the operator, and is kept up to about 13 months (for records and fraud prevention), then deleted. Write to jarl@inventagon.com to have it deleted sooner (after payout). We never sell it and don't use it for marketing.
How we use your information
- To run the game: score your lines, create character replies and coach feedback, save your progress, and enforce attempt limits.
- To keep the service working, secure and free of abuse.
- To improve the game, using aggregated or de-identified information.
Service providers we use
- xAI (AI processing) receives the scene context and your lines to generate replies, scores and feedback. Per xAI's API documentation, xAI does not train its models on API inputs or outputs without the customer's explicit permission (we have not given it), and by default stores API requests and responses, encrypted, for 30 days for abuse and misuse auditing, then deletes them automatically. Source: https://docs.x.ai/developers/faq/security (checked Oct 12, 2026).
- Upstash (database, via the Vercel Marketplace) stores your anonymous player record.
- Vercel (hosting) serves the website and runs our server code.
- Stripe (payments) and X (Sign in with X).
These providers process data on our behalf and under their own terms and privacy policies.
Advertising
Winning Life shows no ads today. If we add optional rewarded or interstitial ads later (in free practice only), we'll update this policy first to name the ad partner, explain what it collects, and tell you how to opt out.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Players 13-17 may play free; we collect only the same game data described above and never take payments from them.
How long we keep it
Business waitlist emails are kept until the Business version launches or you ask us to delete them. Feedback and reviews are kept up to 2 years unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Anonymous player records that are inactive for 12 months are deleted automatically. Records with a purchase or a linked X account are kept so your paid sessions aren't lost; you can delete them any time. You can delete yours at any time with Settings → Delete my data. xAI's retention is described above. Request logs at our hosting provider are kept according to that provider's settings.
Your choices and rights
- Forget my name: Settings → Forget my name removes your saved first name.
- Delete my data: Settings → Delete my data permanently deletes your player record from our database and clears Winning Life's data from your browser. This can't be undone.
- Access or other requests: email jarl@inventagon.com with your player ID (shown in Settings). Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights to know, delete or correct personal information, and you won't be treated differently for using them.
Reporting offensive AI output
The characters and coach are generated by AI and can occasionally say something inappropriate. Please report it to jarl@inventagon.com with the scene and roughly when it happened, and we'll look into it.
Children
Winning Life is for players 13+; cash prizes are 18+. If you believe a child under 13 has used the game, or a minor has made a purchase, contact us and we will delete the related data (and refund any purchase).
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, such as signed tokens, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access-controlled storage. No online service is 100% secure.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, show a notice in the game.
